I will never forget as a young teen as we listened to radio evangelist Carl McIntire and other patriots trying to warn us that if America did not watch out, we would embrace socialism. I can remember all too well how Madelin Murray O’Hare challenged the schools about prayer in school to protect her son who later became a Christian and campaigned against the very thing that his mother stood for, a world without the mention of God. I can remember the days of the “sixties and seventies” when young people rebelled against the society of the day and against all that was decent and right while they embraced such groups as the “Beetles” and the culture revolution. It was thought to be “groovy” to rebel and to bash the status quo. I can remember being in the public schools when they had a hair check for boys and a dress check for girls, they all wore skirts or dresses in that day. Then things changed!
We decided that God was no longer needed that we could run this nation without Him. We decided that character did not matter and that we could wear long hair, jeans, and generally act like jerks with no purpose, no ethics, and no morality. We saw the rise of teen pregnancy and the “Roe v Wade” decision allowing millions of babies to be killed. We have even had atheists that want to remove God from the pledge and we are allowing homosexuals to become married. We do all of this thinking that God will not notice and that he is so far away He won’t care what we do or say.
The Bible is full of stories about nations that did just like we are doing here in this country. They worshiped God for awhile and they were blessed far above all other nations. They they became proud and decided that God was not needed so God said that they could go without Him which resulted in those nations being overrun by heathen nations that tortured, killed, raped, and generally enslaved God’s people until they repented of their sins and decided to call out on the Lord.
We had a big scare on 911 with terrorists attacking the World Trade center and America was on it’s knees until we saw that things were still seemingly normal. We really did not think that it would all come crashing down. We did not think that our own greed and corruption would undermine our very existence. We did not think that our inflated standard of living with unrealistic bloated credit system would come crashing down because of a very simple accounting procedure that devalued all bank paper causing them to refuse to make loans because they feared losing in a reeling economy.
The sad thing about all of this is that we have leaders who are lying to the American people. They are paying themselves with stimulus money and cheating their way into public office as if this life style will last forever. We have a President who was elected by fraud and a rigged election and we have two houses of congress that are going to spend the country into bankruptcy just like they did the State of California.
What has happened? Well I can tell you! We have become an immoral country in every area of life. Our churches are having “Worship” which was never a part of the early church, only a part of devil worship. We have politicians who cater to special interests which means that they are catering to the self-gratification of various groups of people in the country. We have unions who are breaking the backs of big corporations because they care more for the high wages and pensions of workers who are not worth their pay than the rest of the country. We have general godlessness in every sphere of society even in so-called fundamental churches. Most churches today are no more than rock n roll concerts with preachers that don’t have a clue about what a church is really about. In short, our whole society has forgotten the root of all moral principles that knowing God and desiring what would please God and help our neighbor is the only way to survive on this world. The foundation of American morality is selfish desire even when it comes to Christians. Selfish desire is called sin in the Bible. It is to miss the mark of the end and scope of life which is God. When you don’t know God, you are immoral and our country no longer knows God.
I am wondering what it will take to wake up the consciences of our sick society. I wonder when Christians and churches will begin to live holy and forsake their evil music and ways. The Bible talks about judgment beginning at the house of God. Rather than rock ‘n roll concerts we need to do as they did in days gone by, have concerts of prayer. Rather than have “Worship Leaders” we need to cut out the music completely and have a man of God in every pulpit proclaiming the whole counsel of God. Rather than dressing like the world, talking like the world, and living like the world with all the greed and corruption, Christians need to turn from the world, repent of their sins and come back to God. Our society has lost its compass, its moral compass. We are like the world before God destroyed the whole globe by flood. Every imagination of the heart is only evil continually. Back then, God sent a flood that drowned every living creature. What will be the punishment of this generation? Will it be another world war? Will it be nuclear this time? All I can say is that we are heading down a road of no return and unless we all sit back and see the cliff we are about to go over, it may be too late before we find out what we could have done.
